Trust is a small word but it comes with heavy weight.
Trust is natural, though. I trust the barista to make my coffee just the way I ordered it. I trust that my waiter will bring out the food I ordered. Trust is so natural to us that we are surprised when it’s broken.
It goes against our nature to not trust. Why then when it comes to our teams are we less likely to trust them? Most of the time the opportunity for either success or failure is never given because of our urge to micromanage the details. Trust is a powerful tool to empower people to succeed, fail, and grow.
Trust doesn’t have to be blind, but it is two sided and builds loyalty and unites people in a more powerful way.
